The Icebreaking Company Oy’s financial year 2025 demonstrated the company’s ability to combine growth with profitability. The name change reinforces its international direction and a clearly defined Arctic identity as a specialist in maritime tourism.
Long-term development driving growth
The 2025 financial year marked a significant turning point for the company: revenue reached nearly EUR 12 million, operating profit amounted to EUR 939,000, and net profit for the period was EUR 827,000.
The result strengthens the company’s financial position and confirms that growth has been built on a sustainable and structurally solid foundation. The company has entered a phase where growth and profitability support one another.
Through systematic development, the company has evolved from a local tourism operator into an internationally positioned specialist in Arctic maritime tourism. In recent years, the company has developed its service portfolio, strengthened international distribution, built an organisation aligned with growth, and enhanced operational reliability in a demanding Arctic environment.
A clear Arctic identity
During the financial year, the company changed its name to The Icebreaking Company Oy. Its previous name was Kemin Matkailu Oy.
The name change consolidates the business under a single, clear identity and reflects the company’s strategic positioning as a specialised Arctic maritime tourism operator. The company’s roots in Kemi and in the Arctic environment of the Bothnian Bay remain unchanged – the new name articulates this foundation in an international context.
Next phase of the growth strategy
The company is currently exploring the potential expansion of hotel operations as part of its growth strategy. The objective is to strengthen year-round operations and further develop a comprehensive Arctic service offering. No final investment decisions have been made. The year has started as planned, and demand for the company’s services has remained strong.
